Tangy grape jelly meatballs
There are several different versions of this popular recipe, many of which include cranberry sauce, sweet chili sauce, ketchup or grape jelly—we bet you’ve had at least one variation of it at a potluck! It’s fast, easy, satisfying and family-friendly. This version from the Food Network mixes sweetness, spice and a hint of acidity with great results. Start with our delicious ground beef to make homemade meatballs, then let your slow cooker work its magic and serve this tasty recipe over rice. Remember, you can also switch up this recipe by using another ground meat in place of beef. Veal, pork and chicken are excellent choices.
Tuscan chicken with sundried tomatoes
We’ve seen variations of this recipe referred to as ‘Marry Me Chicken’ because it’s so good, you’ll want to marry the cook! It’s easy to prepare in under 15 minutes—add the ingredients to your slow cooker, set the timer and go about the rest of your day. Adding fresh spinach at the end is a must as it gives this dish texture, flavour and added nutrition. You could also use fresh kale or arugula instead of spinach, if you prepare. Serve this saucy chicken with egg noodles, mashed potatoes, rice or zucchini noodles (plus some fresh bread, if you have some on hand). It’s great the next day, too, so save some for lunch!
Savoury, comforting pork stew
We love a classic beef or chicken stew in the cooler months, but pork stew deserves a moment in the spotlight as well. This simple recipe offers a sweet and savoury pork flavour with touches of dijon mustard and honey. The slow cooking method results in tender, fall-apart-in-your-mouth pork that we can’t get enough of. Serve it with crusty bread, a side of buttered peas and/or a fresh side salad. This is a meal the whole family will enjoy!
