3 spring updates from Olliffe
It feels like spring just arrived in Ontario but in the blink of an eye, it will be June. There’s a lot happening on Ontario farms and in our Yonge Street butcher shop this time of year, which makes it a good time to touch base and share a few updates from the Olliffe team. Our farmers’ pastures are thriving
After a long winter and a brief muddy stretch, we’re pleased to share that our farming partners have cattle on pasture. This image below was taken at Hillview Farm in Haldimand Country on Wednesday, May 28th—it was rainy, but look at that greenery! The fields are already looking lush, and we’re seeing plenty of nutritious clover and native grasses growing across the fields. It’s a beautiful sight—there are birds everywhere, the soil is healthy and rich with insect life, the plant life is thriving and the cattle are doing what they always do (taking nourishment from those lush green pastures, irrigating the soil with their movement and leaving compost behind). We love seeing holistic management in action!
Our shelves are stocked with high quality local products
In addition to delectable Ontario beef, poultry and pork products, our shelves are fully stocked with incredible items sourced from local artisans and food producers. We’ve got fresh bread from local bakers, honey from Rosewood Estates Winery, gourmet mustard from Caplanky’s, a variety of products from Marty’s Pickles, small batch artisan granola from Bayfield Provisions, and fresh local dairy products from Jensen Cheese, MC Dairy, Cow’s Creamery and Summit Station. (Their chocolate milk is a must-try!)
